TIGER Woods is the third most recognizable American behind only Donald Trump and Martin Luther King Jr., a study has found.
Woods, 48, was the highest-placed athlete on the list after an extensive survey was carried out.
The golf star is a 15-time major winner but a household name across the world.
In the spirit of the Fourth of July, a study was commissioned by Casino.org to celebrate independence.
The survey asked 4,000 Americans if they recognized famous figures and came up with an extensive list.
The list featured 10 political and historic figures as well as 10 athletes and 10 business pioneers.

Trump came in top with 99.6% of Americans knowing him, while King Jr. was second on 98.1.
Woods came in as the top-ranked athlete with a 97.4% recognition.
Sarah Palin (96.8%) and Jeff Bezos (96.6%) rounded out the top five of the survey.
Bill Gates (96.1%) was sixth with Steve Jobs seventh (95.8%) before Shaquille O'Neal entered the chart.

NBA icon Shaq was eighth with 95.4% recognition while Mike Tyson came in 10th with 95.1%.
The sports starts were split by politician Bernie Sanders in ninth on 95.3%.
Muhammad Ali was 12th overall and the fourth-highest-ranked sports star with a 90.5% recognition.
And another basketball icon, Michael Jordan, came in 14th overall with 88.6%.
In all, there were 10 sports stars in the top 30 of the famous list.
Michael Phelps was 16th overall (88.1%) and Babe Ruth just behind him on 17th (85.3%).
Magic Johnson made it into the top 20 at 19th overall with 84.9%.

Serena Williams was 22nd on 76.3% while Olympic icon Simone Biles came in 24th with 75.1%.
The list surprisingly didn't feature any current or former players in the NFL such as Travis Kelce or Patrick Mahomes.
Kelce has seen his popularity soar in recent months thanks to his relationship with Taylor Swift.
