Retired PGA Tour golfer Wagner, 44, was trying to recreate the shot late into the evening and sent his effort flying over the green in a viral social media clip.

That was when DeChambeau appeared trophy in hand and talked him through the approach.

"This is for the US Open," said Bryson as he stood back to give Wagner room.

His effort finished even closer to the pin than the one that won DeChambeau the Open.

And the champion handed his trophy to Wagner to let him pose with it.

"I guess I'm never going to win the US Open now that I touched it," Wagner joked.

“That’s perfect. You just needed me around,” DeChambeau said. You did it better than me.”

“Player B is always better than Player A,” Wagner replied.

The segment finished with Wagner, who sang DeChambeau's praises throughout, asking him for a drink and the victor accepting.

"Bryson is such a great guy, dude just won the US Open and is out here hanging out on live TV," commented a fan.

"This is the greatest piece of golf content I’ve seen in the 14+ years watching your stuff," posted a third.

"This was fantastic to watch," a fourth beamed.

DeChambeau has won many fans with his approach in recent months.

And the LIV star was gracious in victory as he expressed his sympathy for McIlroy who was on course for victory before missing two short putts.
