TAPPED OUT

CNN’s Jake Tapper & Dana Bash slammed as biased ahead of Trump-Biden debate as crude 2020 comments resurface

The spokesperson even had fiery proof

A SPOKESPERSON for Donald Trump referred to CNN journalists Jake Tapper and Dana Bash as biased in an interview on the platform.

The interview was cut short as CNN anchor Kasie Hunt was not thrilled with Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt’s comments.

Leavitt got straight to her point during the CNN interview and said Trump would be entering a “hostile environment on this very network” when he would be debating Biden on Thursday.

“With debate moderators who have made their opinions about him very well known … and their biased coverage of him,” Leavitt continued in the interview, Fox News reported.

Hunt responded and stood up for Tapper and Bash attempting to shut Leavitt down.

“So I’ll just say, my colleagues, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, have acquitted themselves as professionals as they have covered campaigns and interviewed candidates from all sides of the aisle,” Hunt said.

“If you’re attacking the moderators, you’re usually losing.”

Leavitt snapped back and highlighted how negative comments about Trump made by Tapper in the past can easily be found online.

“Well, first of all, it would take someone five minutes to Google ‘Jake Tapper Donald Trump’ to see Jake Tapper has consistently,” Leavitt said and was quickly shut down by Hunt.

“Ma’am, we’re going to stop this interview if you’re going to keep attacking my colleagues,” Hunt said.

'HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT'

Tapper blamed a horrible debate on Trump when he and Biden went at it in 2020.

The comments insisted that Trump lied and made the event a disgrace.

“That was a hot mess inside a dumpster fire, inside a train wreck,” Tapper said while covering the debate on CNN in 2020

“In fact, it wasn’t even a debate it was a disgrace.

“And it’s primarily because of President Trump, who spent the entire time interrupting, not abiding by the rules he agreed to.

“Lying, maliciously attacking the son of the president.”

What are Trump and Biden's platforms?

A look at what issues matter most to the candidates.

Biden's talking points:

  • Advocate for abortion rights after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with a 6-3 judgment in 2022
  • His Build Back Better plan, the $2.2 trillion infrastructure spending bill introduced in 2021
  • Support for Ukraine and Israel while they are at war
  • Highlight the strong US economy and low unemployment rates during his presidency

Trump's talking points:

  • Slam issues at the US-Mexico border, which was a critical talking point for his 2016 win
  • Criticize the slew of criminal and civil lawsuits filed against him
  • Applaud the Trump-appointed Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg
  • Discuss a plan to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, although he hasn't said which country he wants to win
  • Advocate for parents' rights to regulate and restrict discussion of gender, sexuality, and race in schools

Following the interview between Hunt and Leavitt, CNN released a statement to back up their journalist as well.

CNN ensured Tapper and Bash were highly qualified to cover the debates.

“Jake Tapper and Dana Bash are well-respected veteran journalists who have covered politics for more than five decades combined,” CNN said, per The Hill

“They have extensive experience moderating major political debates, including CNN’s Republican Presidential Primary Debate this cycle.
