16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis arrested for ‘failing to pay child support’
FORMER MTV star Whitney Purvis has been arrested for allegedly failing to pay child support.
The U.S. Sun can confirm that the 16 & Pregnant star landed in a Floyd County, Georgia, jail on July 2, making it her most recent in a string of arrests over the years.
A judge found that the former reality TV star was in contempt of court over failing to pay her court-ordered child support.
The U.S. Sun obtained court documents from Purvis' arrest, stating she was sentenced to 48 hours in jail, meaning she'll be out sometime Thursday, July 4, just in time for the Fourth of July festivities.
It's unclear whether she'll be in a celebratory mood, however, as she'll need to pony up some major cash.
Court documents also state that Purvis was ordered to pay an additional $20 per month to cover her back child support payments.

That's on top of her current child support obligation of $353 per month.
The TV personality's arrest came after the court ordered her to participate in the Parental Accountability Court Program and comply with its conditions, which, according to the legal documents, she failed to do.
TROUBLED PAST
Purvis, now 30 years old, first appeared on MTV's 16 and Pregnant in the summer of 2009.
Unlike fellow Season 1 stars Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood, and Farrah Abraham, Purvis did not go on to star in subsequent seasons of the show or its famous spin-off, Teen Mom.
Purvis did, however, manage to have a few run-ins with the law since her short-lived stint on reality television.
She was arrested in 2012 for allegedly shoplifting a pregnancy test from a local Walmart.
Purvis and her then-boyfriend and baby daddy, Weston Gosa, were also accused of destroying someone's property later that year, including a cell phone and laptop.
Despite initially being partners in crime, Purvis turned on Gosa within a few years.
She's been previously booked for allegedly attacking Gosa with a broom, and for threatening him in person and via texts and phone calls.
During her time on 16 and Pregnant, Purvis faced several problems, including becoming isolated from friends and family, financial struggles, and having to drop out of high school.

While she originally lived with her grandmother and Gosa during her pregnancy, she eventually moved in with Gosa and their newborn son, Weston Owen Gosa Jr., into a place of their own.
The duo later had a second child together, a son named River Blake, born on October 14, 2014.
The couple separated shortly after his birth, and have been in an on-again, off-again relationship ever since.
Gosa currently has custody of both Weston Owen Gosa Jr. and River Blake.
In January 2022, The U.S. Sun exclusively confirmed that both children's legal and physical custody transferred to their father on April 30, 2018.
