9:25 p.m. A man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

9:57 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of unlawful distribution of greater than 7 grams and less than 112 grams of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of greater than 4 grams of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and displaying expired number plates at Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 221 E. Main St.

Sunday, May 26

5:52 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of second-degree assault, protection order violation, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia when a report was made that the man was inside of the residence he is restrained from in the 1800 block of Rampart St.

9:10 p.m. A man was cited with second-degree criminal tampering in the Mountain View Trailer Park, 815 S. Chestnut St.

Monday, May 27

7:52 a.m. An officer arrested a woman with a warrant who was turning herself into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

9:47 a.m. An officer making a routine traffic stop in the 2400 block of Trinity Ave., arrested a man who had three warrants for failure to appear.

6:04 p.m. An officer took a report for a stolen license plate from a man at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

9:02 p.m. A man was arrested on two warrants and suspicion of violating two protection orders that state he shall not consume or possess alcohol at the Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St.

Tuesday, May 28

8:25 a.m. An officer took a report for a stolen vehicle at 905 May Lane.

10:44 a.m. An officer served a man a warrant who was being placed into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., the man was being transferred from another facility.

10:45 a.m. A woman in the 900 block of S. Cedar St., reported her vehicle had been broken into where her purse was stolen.

12:14 p.m. An officer took a report for theft from a man in the 1300 block of Mesa Verde St. The man provided the officer a list of construction tools that were missing, and a pawn ticket in his sister-in-law’s name that listed the stolen items.

11:34 p.m. An officer took a report for a disturbance at 425 S. Chestnut St., where a man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence.

Tuesday, May 28

12:02 a.m. A man was arrested at the Colorado West Trailer Park, 1410 N. Mildred Road under suspicion of violating a protection order after a report of a domestic situation involving the safety of children was made.

Wednesday, May 29

10:08 a.m. A man was arrested near the Cortez Plaza, 2200 E. Main St. on a warrant.

8:43 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of a protection order violation, resisting arrest, and third-degree criminal trespassing at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

Thursday, May 30

9:20 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of identity theft, possession of financial devices, possession of identity documents, theft, and first-degree trespass at 957 Navajo St., where five vehicles were reportedly broken into. The man was seen on one victim’s surveillance video and on a convenience store surveillance video matching the description trying to use another victim’s debit card to purchase cigarettes.

6:23 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of trespassing at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St.

6:40 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a trespass order at the Cortez Welcome Center, 928 E. Main St.

8:20 p.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant at the Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road.

10:54 p.m. An officer took a report for a hit-and-run at the Family Dollar, 324 S. Broadway.

Friday, May 31

3:45 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, harassment, a protection order violation, and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol at 411 S. Beech St.

7:04 p.m. An officer took a report for a dog bite in the 1200 block of Animas St.

9:05 p.m. A man whose passenger was waving a tall white can as their vehicle passed a Cortez Police officer was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI over .08, open container in a motor vehicle and failed to present proof of insurance at the Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St.

10:01 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of violating two protection orders that state she shall not possess or consume alcohol at 403 S. Maple St.

10:53 p.m. A woman under the age of 21 was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, domestic violence, criminal mischief, and underage consumption of alcohol at 309 S. Pine St.

Saturday, June 1

11:15 a.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant in the 200 block of W. 7th St. A man who was driving her around was cited with driving an uninsured vehicle, vehicle number plates not attached to the vehicle, and drove a vehicle while license was suspended under FRA.

3:03 p.m. An officer took a report for a shoplifting incident at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The officer detailed his intention to request on behalf of the business a trespass order and a warrant for the arrest of a woman who is suspected of shoplifting sunglasses and swimwear totaling $78.86.
