A Westmoreland teen has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 17-year-old girl from Macon County.

Hendersonville police officers took a 17-year-old male, whose name was not released, into custody in the case of Trinity Bostic, who was reported missing on June 29. Her remains were discovered Wednesday and police announced his arrest on Saturday.

The suspect is currently being held in the Sumner County Juvenile Detention Center on Woodlawn Drive in Gallatin.

He faces a first-degree murder charge and has a detention hearing scheduled Thursday, Hendersonville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Sgt. Nicholas Edwards said.

A Tennessee Department of Transportation subcontract worker discovered Bostic's remains in a small wooded area near New Shackle Island Road while picking up trash Wednesday, according the Hendersonville Police Department.

Her death investigation is continuing.
