A Nashville teen is facing several charges pending the outcome of a hit-and-run investigation that killed a 31-year-old pedestrian.

Nashville police in a news release Monday identified the pedestrian as Christian Eduardo Ramirez.

Officers were called to Murfreesboro Pike near Ransom Place around 11 p.m. Saturday night after the crash.

A Ford Explorer driven by an 18-year-old and a Hyundai Elantra were traveling east on Murfreesboro Pike. The Explorer first hit Ramirez in the left eastbound lane, then he was hit by the Elantra, the statement said.

The teen in the Explorer fled, while the driver in the Elantra stayed at the scene, according to police.

Ramirez was taken to the hospital but died there, police said.

"As the on-scene investigation was taking place, the Explorer driver’s sister called police and advised that her brother was at her residence and told her that he had struck someone," police said.

In an interview, the teen told them he was driving the Explorer at the time of the crash, police said.

The teen was initially charged with driving without a license, a misdemeanor, but additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, including "an analysis of his speed while traveling on Murfreesboro Pike," the statement said.

No charges are expected for the driver of the Elantra, police said.
