Nashville police are looking for three people after they confronted a 16-year-old boy, grabbed his pistol and fatally shot him.

Police identified Jawaun Cleo Jones as the victim who was fatally shot Tuesday. Jones was riding a skateboard in the 1600 block of Antioch Pike at about 11 p.m. Saturday when he was approached by the group of three, according to a statement from the Metro Nashville Police Department.

A fight broke out between Jones and the three suspects. Jones dropped a pistol, and one of the three other people picked it up and shot the young man, according to police.

Jones fled from the scene before he collapsed and died on the front lawn of a nearby business, police said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
