TikTok was down for thousands of users across the country on Thursday, June 27, the same night as the first in-person debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

According to DownDetector, TikTok outages peaked around 8:10 p.m. with over 12,000 users reporting issues with the app. The outages continued until 10:40 p.m. and gradually began decreasing.

The outages occurred in various major U.S. cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Houston, Tampa, Atlanta, Chicago, and more. The areas that experienced the most issues were New York and Dallas.

Fifty percent of users reported problems with the video-sharing app, 45% reported problems with comments and the remaining 5% reported problems with the TikTok feed.

Many users on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, posted about issues with the comment section not loading, while other posted about the app not loading at all. Until the time of publication, neither Tiktok's official account, its support account or its communications account on X have acknowledged the issue.
