Attacks to come to the fore in London derby

Points and bragging rights are at stake as West Ham United play host to Chelsea in the Premier League.

After stalemates in their first games of the campaign, both sides are looking for their first top-flight wins of the season this weekend.

Each have scored in three of the previous four derbies between West Ham and Chelsea – and Sunday’s showdown is expected to follow suit.

The pair come into this crunch clash on the back of 1-1 draws in their opening games. While the Hammers were held on their trip to Bournemouth, a new-look Chelsea showed significant promise in their stalemate with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues started slowly but finished strongly and may feel aggrieved to have only taken a point after an excellent second-half display against the Reds.

However, given their high number of new arrivals, improvement should soon be expected and it will not be long until new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is off the mark.

Athletic young midfielders Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo are the latest two fresh faces to have sealed a move to the Blues, which gives them a wealth of options few in the Premier League can call upon.

But change can take time to adapt to and they are far from the finished article, which is something the well-organised Hammers should be hoping to jump on.

West Ham beat Manchester United and held Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham to score draws and netted consolation goals in defeat to Newcastle and Liverpool at home last season, showing their capabilities.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have failed to keep a Premier League clean sheet in 10, which suggests there could be a free-scoring encounter at the London Stadium.

West Ham vs Chelsea tip 1: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals @ 6/5 with Sky Bet

Livewire Jackson can get off the mark

One of the standout performers for Chelsea in last weekend’s draw with Liverpool was new frontman Nicolas Jackson, who can get up and running with a goal against West Ham.

The 22-year-old arrived from Villarreal in the summer after scoring nine goals in the months of April and May, which included braces against Celta Vigo, Athletic Bilbao and Cadiz.

Jackson’s pace and power made him a constant threat to the Liverpool backline and he registered four shots, two of which were on target, throughout that contest.

The Senegalese striker will be determined not to wait too long for his first Chelsea goal and he can open his account against the Hammers.

Hammers’ discipline to be tested

Four West Ham players picked up yellow cards in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth and their discipline will be tested against this strong Chelsea squad.

Backing the Hammers to pick up at least two bookings as part of an 8/1 bet builder makes plenty of appeal and one of those unlikely to escape the referee’s attention is Vladimir Coufal.

The Czech right back was cautioned five times in 24 appearances last season, including this fixture, and Ben Chilwell’s forward runs from Chelsea’s left-back position is going to put him under plenty of pressure.

The bet can be completed by both teams getting on the scoresheet.
