Europa League winner odds: Atalanta storm home

Bayer Leverkusen are odds-on favourites to win the Europa League ahead of tonight’s final against Atalanta in Dublin (kick-off, 8pm). Xabi’s Alonso’s side are 2/5 to complete the second leg of a treble with Atalanta 19/10 in the betting.

Atalanta come out victorious

Atalanta claimed their first European trophy this season, lifting the Europa League after beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final thanks to a sensational hat-trick from Ademola Lookman.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side impressed throughout the competition, overcoming Liverpool after winning at Anfield in spectacular fashion before beating French side Marseille in the semi-finals.

For Leverkusen, the defeat in the final was their first of the season in their 52nd match but they have the considerable consolation of winning a first Bundesliga title and the German Cup.

Next season’s Europa League will feature some big names, including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur from the Premier League.

Real Sociedad, Roma, Lyon and Ajax are others who will be looking at the competition as one they can win and, in so doing, earn a place in the Champions League.
