The Nationals (42-49) were shut out 6-0 by the St. Louis Cardinals to cap a disappointing, four-game weekend series on Monday. Washington went 1-3 in the series. Mitchell Parker allowed just one run, but St. Louis was able to score on a throwing error as well during his seven innings pitched.

Now they’ll clash with the Mets for three games, after previously hosting New York for a four-game series just last week. The Mets and Nats split that series, and while Washington spent the weekend losing to St. Louis, New York was going 2-2 with Pittsburgh.

The Mets are coming off an 8-2 loss in Pittsburgh on Monday night. Brandon Nimmo had an equalizing two-run homer at the top of the sixth inning, but the Pirates took off after that, unloading three runs each on Eric Orze and Adrian Houser.
