West Nile Virus found in Oswego County for first time this year

West Monroe, N.Y. — Mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus were found in Oswego County for the first time this year.

The infected mosquito sample was taken from Toad Harbor Swamp in West Monroe, county health officials said in a news release Wednesday.

The health department is advising residents to limit outdoor activities between dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are more active, and to wear protective clothing.
