North Country man sold pounds of weed to undercover cop for shoebox full of guns, feds say

Syracuse, N.Y. − A Franklin County man pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to selling pounds of marijuana in exchange for a shoebox full of pistols.

He made the deal with an undercover cop in Massena and was arrested immediately after, an agent from the Bureau of U.S. Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms said in a criminal complaint.

Joseph Thompson, 37, of Hogansburg, is facing up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
