UPDATED:

A man and a woman died and three were injured, including a 2-year-old child, after being sprayed with bullets in a drive-by shooting Monday night in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

The child is the son of the woman who was killed, according to reports and family members’ accounts.

Police identified her Tuesday as Tiarra Holliday, 28, of Plantation. The man who died was identified as Sheldon Lawrence, 45, of Fort Lauderdale.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. in the 700 block of Northwest 10th Terrace, between Sistrunk and Sunrise boulevards. The victims were standing outside of a corner store in the neighborhood, according to reports.

Police arrived to find four adults and the child with gunshot wounds, according to an update released Tuesday. Originally, police had said there was a sixth victim, but that information was inaccurate, the release said.

Holliday died at the scene, and the four others were rushed to Broward Health Medical Center, where Lawrence died. The injuries to the other three were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Screams and sirens could be heard in heavily redacted 911 calls, including those of a child. Holliday was holding her son in her arms when the group was sprayed with bullets, unnamed relatives told WPLG-Ch.10. She was shot in the head.

On Facebook, Holliday’s sister, Shakyna Holliday, said she watched her scream for her baby, her eyes rolling open as she took her last breath.

“I will never be okay,” she wrote.

The boy was also struck and is now in the hospital in a coma.

“We know there were witnesses to this incident,” Fort Lauderdale spokeswoman Casey Liening told reporters Monday night. “So we urge anyone who saw anything, heard anything or knows anything to contact us immediately.”

Fort Lauderdale Police ask anyone with information to call Jackie Sanchez at 954-828-5931, the Homicide Tipline at 954-828-6677, or remain anonymous and contact Broward Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
