Pasta Vino is a delicious example in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, of Italian cuisine, a staple of any list of the world’s best-loved food.

Just five minutes from Osan Air Base’s walk-in gate, this rustic-veneered restaurant features such a wide selection of appetizers and pastas with tomato or creamy sauces that deciding on your choice can be overwhelming.

My party’s dinner started with an appetizer of fried mushrooms (15,000 won, or about $11) that came accompanied by a freshly made marinara sauce. The soft texture of the mushrooms combined with the fresh sauce made it a pleasant opener.

The chicken alfredo linguine (15,000 won) arrived with garlic buttered bread on the side, and it was good with a rich creamy sauce, light on the chicken but generous on the pasta.

We also ordered bacon-and-mushroom spicy tomato spaghetti (14,000 won) and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

As the name implies, Pasta Vino serves a variety of wines, but also has non-alcoholic options such as sodas and juices.

Overall, Pasta Vino proved to be a satisfying Italian experience, and it’s worth a visit if you don’t mind the high calorie counts.
