Tyler Anderson, Fort Zumwalt East track and field
A senior who has signed to continue his career at Southeast Missouri State, Anderson ran a state-leading time of 1 minute, 53.99 seconds to capture the 800-meter championship in the Fort Zumwalt East Invitational. Anderson’s time also established a new program record, eclipsing the former mark that had existed since 2015. Later in the week at the Fort Zumwalt North Invitational, Anderson picked up his second victory of the week when he ran a personal-best time of 9:44.24 in the 3200 meters. Last season, Anderson ran a Lions program record 50.27 seconds in the 400. He is a three-time state qualifier in the 800 and twice has qualified for state in the 1600, an event he won earlier this season at Timberland.

A senior four-year starting shortstop, Dilley is rewriting her team’s record books during a memorable Musketeers season. As Red Bud posted a 6-0 record last week and improved to 18-6 for the season, Dilley had multiple hits and at least one RBI in each game. For the week, Dilley had 15 hits including six doubles and one triple and 22 RBI. For the season, Dilley has an area-leading 53 RBI, which is a single-season program record. Through last week, she has a program-record 124 RBI in her four-year career. Dilley also has an area-leading 14 doubles, has scored 26 runs and is hitting .506. In the winter, Dilley was an All-Cahokia Conference Illinois Division selection for the Musketeers girls basketball team.

Spencer Duvall, Parkway Central volleyball
A junior setter, Duvall helped Parkway Central capture the championship of its own tournament for the first time in program history to highlight a seven-victory week. Duvall had 95 assists, 19 digs and four aces as Central went 5-0 in its 16-team tournament, annually considered one of the toughest in the area. Among the highlights for the Colts was a 25-15, 25-23 sweep of Lafayette in the tournament semifinals, snapping a nine-match winless streak in the series dating to May 1, 2009. Duvall was the tournament MVP. Earlier this season, Duvall passed the 1,000-assist mark for his career. This season, he ranks among area leaders with an average of 8.7 assist per set, which is a total of 443 in 51 sets played.

Henderson continued to help the Comets stymie opponents with four shutout victories last week. A senior goalkeeper, Henderson furthered her single-season and program shutout records in a 1-0 nonconference victory at Mount Vernon. She has 15 shutouts this season and 37 in her career, both program standards. The previous career shutouts record of 21 by Sara Cliff had stood since 2001. Henderson also owns the Comets all-time goalkeeper wins record with 46, moving past 38 by Emily Gaffner thru the 2015 campaign. Henderson has every decision in Greenville’s 17-3 season, and the 17 wins are a single-season program record. Also an all-conference basketball player this season, Henderson has allowed only five goals in 20 games and has 77 saves.

The Maroons won seven matches last week including five to capture the Althoff Crusader Invitational behind a most valuable player performance by Liddell, a 6-foot-2 senior middle hitter. Liddell had 52 kills across the seven victories along with nine blocks and three aces. Also a basketball standout, Liddell recorded 40 of his kills on only 76 attempts during the tournament. Three of West’s victories in the event went the distance in the best-of-3 set format, including a 25-21, 22-25, 15-13 win over Edwardsville in the title match. That snapped West’s 17-match losing streak to Edwardsville going back to a sectional semifinal played May 25, 2016. At 13-5, West is on track to finish with a winning record for the first time since going 23-15-1 in that 2016 campaign.

A junior outside hitter, Raum was named the most valuable player after helping the Cougars win the championship of their own Lutheran Cougar Invitational for the first time. Lutheran St. Charles went 5-0-1 overall during the week, including two non-tournament victories, and earned the title with a 25-20, 25-23 sweep of Whitfield in the tournament title match. In 17 sets played during the six matches, Raum had 40 kills on 109 attacks for a .220 hitting percentage, 27 digs, six aces with only two service errors and only two reception errors on 47 chances. A six-rotation player, Raum has helped the Cougars to an 11-8-2 record and on the verge of a third consecutive winning season.

A sophomore left-handed pitcher, Smith continued his dominating season on the mound during a victory against Hillsboro in the first of a Jefferson County Activities Association doubleheader sweep by identical 1-0 scores. Smith struck out eight and scattered five hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. He improved to 5-0 in 28 2/3 innings this season with a 0.00 earned run average with 11 hits allowed and 37 strikeouts. Smith also had the Tigers’ only hit in that game against Hillsboro, a double. During the week, Smith was 5 for 12 at the plate with five RBI and three doubles. He has 26 RBI this season and a .284 average.
