I was a young girl going to college in Boston. On a Friday after class, a dorm mate asked if anyone wanted to go to New York for the weekend. I was in! Several of us went to Back Bay Station, boarded the train and we were off.
I wanted to see the United Nations building, almost completed. I went the next day with one of my mates. Oh, it was breathtaking. And the flags waving all around brought tears to my eyes. My mate asked if I was crying (I said no, just filled with joy).
And then she said: "Don't forget the Supreme Court to keep things in our country fair and square!" Where did she come up with that remark?
Well, I'm an old lady now and I still get tears in my eyes thinking of the beautiful flags and the meaning of the United Nations (look it up).
But when I think of the Supreme Court now, I get sick. No "fair and square" there. It's hard to have faith that their decisions are not politically motivated.
