A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday on Interstate 270 in St. Louis County.
The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the victim as Eric D. Ryan, 57, of the St. Louis area.
Ryan was struck about 12:30 p.m. Monday on northbound I-270, at Highway 30. The patrol said Ryan had stepped into a traffic lane and was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt.
Ryan died at a hospital.
A 17-year-old boy was driving the car. He and his 13-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries, the patrol said.
Cpl. Logan Bolton of the Highway Patrol said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. The driver will not be charged, Bolton said.
Bolton said investigators don't know why Ryan stepped into traffic. He said there was no abandoned or disabled vehicle nearby connected to Ryan.
