O’FALLON, Mo. — An O’Fallon man faces criminal charges after police say he shot a food delivery service driver who attempted to retrieve an order that had been delivered to the wrong address.
Dwayne Jones, 47, has been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Police have not released the identity of the driver, who suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot in the stomach. Officials have also not released the name of the company the driver works for.
Police said the driver returned to Jones’ home in the 800 block of Barbara Place in O’Fallon shortly after midnight on Sunday when he realized he had delivered the order to the wrong address. Jones is accused of shooting the driver in the abdomen after he retrieved the food still sitting outside the residence.
The delivery driver was taken to an area hospital for surgery for life-threatening injuries. Information on his condition was not available Monday afternoon.

Jones was arrested at the scene and has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is being held without bond at the St. Charles County Adult Detention Center.
