OLIVETTE — Latch Inc., announced this week its plans to acquire HelloTech, Inc., a technology support company.
Latch is the latest endeavor headed by Ring doorbell founder Jamie Siminoff. It’s a smart lock system designed for multi-unit residences.
Through Latch, users are able to access apartments, common areas, package rooms, garages, elevators and gates without a physical key and can instead rely on phone access or passcodes. This year, Latch will be rebranded into Door, with the Door app launching July 4.
According to a press release, HelloTech will serve as the foundation for Door Services, which enables users to hire a local dog walker or cleaner who already has clients in the user's building. It will work in tandem with another Siminoff company, Honest Day’s Work.

The company offers diagnostic solutions, support and hands-on training for things like setting up and training new smartphone users on device capabilities, consolidating smart home technology, enhancing IoT connectivity, boosting WiFi and cable networks and installing and mounting TVs.
“By integrating HelloTech's installation expertise and service capabilities, DOOR will provide end-to-end solutions that enable residents across the country to easily book service providers for their home electronics and beyond,” Greg Steiner, CEO of HelloTech, said in a statement.
As a result of the acquisition, Micah Stone, the chief growth officer for Latch, will become president of Door Services, which comprises DOOR Property Management, the JAMES app, future DOOR Services and when the acquisition is complete, HelloTech.
The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2024. HelloTech was founded in 2014 and is based in Los Angeles.
Last year, Latch relocated its headquarters from New York City to a 48,000-square-foot facility at 1220 North Price Road in Olivette.
