Former Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright's musical career will get a big boost Monday morning.
Wainwright, who retired last fall after spending his entire career with the Cardinals, announced on social media that he'd be making a national television appearance Monday on NBC's "Today" show.
He'll be on the air sometime between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. (St. Louis) on the program the airs locally on KSDK (Channel 5), according to his post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Excited to announce that," Wainwright wrote. "... Mark your calendars and make sure to tune in!"
Wainwright released his debut album, "Hey Y'all" in April.
“It’s the story of my life. I have so much to tell,” Wainwright told the Post-Dispatch's Kevin C. Johnson. “It’s one of those albums where you can press play and let it go until it’s over.

“I have five kids and a dog and a beautiful wife and a crazy life,” Wainwright said. “There’s a song about being a dad. This is a song about being a husband. There’s a song about growing up in the South.”
Wainwright has performed this year at the famed Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. He also played a festival as part of a Metro East NASCAR race, he opened for the Zac Brown Band at Chaifetz Arena, and he played a concert in Springfield, Missouri, at the home ballpark of the Cardinals' minor-league affiliate there.
He also has a February date scheduled with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
Wainwright has kept a busy schedule in retirement, also working as a television baseball analyst for Fox and the MLB Network.
