Rip Saw Operator/Shop Hand/Truck Driver (No CDL Required)

Gravois Planing Mill, St. Louis, MO

We are seeking an individual responsible for operating rip saws to cut wood precisely along the grain.  When not running rip saws, individual will be responsible for miscellaneous shop hand work and making local deliveries.

Key Responsibilities as Rip Saw Operator:

-    Select and prepare wood species for cutting, ensuring they meet required standards.

-    Set up and adjust the rip saw for various cuts and wood sizes.

-    Inspect cut pieces to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.

-    Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

-    Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

-    Work efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize waste, optimizing use of materials.

Secondary Responsibilities as Shop Hand/Truck Driver:

-    Loading and unloading product.

-    Shop cleaning and maintenance.

-    Local deliveries by van or box truck (No CDL required).

Skills & Qualifications:

-    Skilled in operating rip saws and other woodworking machinery.

-    Ability to make accurate cuts and adjustments with a keen eye for detail to ensure quality.

-    Understanding of mechanics of rip saws and the ability to perform maintenance tasks.

-    Ability to stand for long periods of time and handle heavy wood pieces.

-    Prior experience in woodwork or sawmill operations is beneficial.

Education and Experience:

-    Vocational training in woodworking or machinery operation is beneficial.

-    Previous experience as a rip saw operator or in a similar woodworking role is preferred.

-    Willing to train the right candidate.
