While more than three-quarters of respondents stated the same about the internet, the share of people who thought this way about newspapers and magazines was considerably lower.

*The source counts the answers of the survey conducted in November 2022 as figures for fiscal year 2022. The Japanese fiscal year starts on April 1 of the stated year and ends on March 31 of the following year.
Respondents were asked how important they regarded each medium as "a means to gain information (source of information)." There were five possible answers: "Very important," "Important to a certain degree," "Neither," "Not really important," "Absolutely not important." The values shown in this statistic represent the combined share of respondents who answered either "Very important" or "Important to a certain degree."
