Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian greets Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Byron Murphy II before last year's game against Texas Tech. Sarkisian reeled in a pledge from elite edge rusher Smith Orogbo on Monday; the Longhorns' 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 17.

Texas football landed a commitment from four-star edge rusher Smith Orogbo on Monday, bringing its number of commitments for the 2025 recruiting class to 13.

Orogbo will enter his senior season at Alief Hastings after exploding his junior season for 73 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, seven sacks and two forced fumbles. He's the No. 13 defensive line prospect in the country and the No. 21 recruit in the state, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

He still has plenty of room to grow, as he started playing football in his freshman year. At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Orogbo flashes quickness for his size that's apparent in his highlight tape. His Hudl highlight package begins with him chasing down a quarterback for a safety.

The Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian are in the midst of their summer recruiting push. They moved up two spots to No. 17 on 247Sports' composite class rankings and still have not yet received a commitment from a five-star prospect. But there are a few highly ranked players who are potential Longhorns favorites; 247Sports has Dakorien Moore, the nation's top-ranked receiver, and Riley Pettijohn, the No. 4 linebacker, as players who are close to Texas.
