Hurricane Beryl may be heading north, but the Texas coast will feel its impact for quite some time. Strengthening while approaching the Lone Star state, the Category 1 storm made landfall in Texas around 4:30 a.m. July 8. It is the second named storm and first hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.

Beryl brought high winds, heavy rainfall, and a storm surge, which left significant structural damage and at least eight dead in Texas and Louisiana. Two million in southeast Texas have lost power ahead of a 106-degree heat index in the Houston area.

Amid road closures and hazards from flooding, drones are now capturing the extent of the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl.
