Body found 'in the roadway' in West Lake Hills, Austin-Travis County EMS says

Editor's note: This story was updated July 9 after the Austin Police Department identified the woman whose body was found.

The Austin Police Department said the woman whose body was found June 26 on a road near the West Lake Athletic and Community Center was Anne Ringold, 70.

Her body was found "in the roadway" near the West Lake Athletic and Community Center, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services shared in a post on social media.

Ringold had been missing for two days when her body was found. She was last seen walking in the 100 block of Sandra Muraida Way in downtown Austin, the Police Department said in a news release.

The death is not being investigated as a homicide and no foul play is suspected at this time, the Austin Police Department said in a written statement to the American-Statesman. The Travis County medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death.

The person was pronounced dead Wednesday near 4300 Westbank Drive and Camp Craft Road, a cross street near West Lake High School, according to the social media post.

An investigation into the death is ongoing as of July 9, and no further information was available, the Austin Police Department said.
