Stathead Tutorials #2 – Game Finder

Posted by Jonah Gardner on May 15, 2020

Stathead is a powerful suite of tools that allow you to use our websites' massive database of statistics to research and answer questions. With a Stathead subscription, you can run customized searches through 100+ years of career statistics, season statistics, game statistics, splits and play-by-play.

You can try Stathead for free for a month, and we want to make sure that you get the most out of both your trial and your subscription. So we've created a video series that will explain what each research tool is and how you can get the most out of it! This is Stathead Tutorials!

This video is about the Game Finder. You can use the Game Finder to search through Baseball-Reference's collection of MLB box scores. We have every box score from every single Major League game, including All-Star games and the Postseason, back to 1904. That's around 200,000 baseball games! This video will show you how to use the Game Finder to dig through all of these games to find records and interesting stats in a matter of seconds, as well as how to do more advanced research, answering questions like "Who had the most 2-HR games" or "What season had the most 10-SO games from pitchers".

We will release more videos going over the other Stathead tools in the coming weeks, and we have other ideas for ways to help make sure you get the most out of your Stathead subscription. However, we want to hear from you! If you have any ideas on ways we can help you learn how to use Stathead, or if you have any questions for us about Stathead, let us know in the comments! You can also email us or hit us up on social media.
