A true wrestling legend is set to leave the ring.

John Cena appeared at WWE Money in the Bank 2024 in Toronto, Canada on Saturday, July 6 to announce his retirement.

Cena will say goodbye officially to the show at the next WrestleMania.

The 16-time world champion — a record he shares with another legendary figure, Ric Flair — shook up the atmosphere with his unexpected news, even though he has spent a long time more dedicated to acting in Hollywood films than to wrestling.

"The 2025 Royal Rumble will be my last Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber 2025 will be my last Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 2025 will be my last WrestleMania," said Cena, who also made reference to the fact that 2025 will be a special year for WWE with Raw starting to air on Netflix in January.

That means we will probably see him very active on Raw in the first few months of next year.

When will John Cena's last match be?

At the press conference after Money in the Bank Cena clarified that the plan is for his "farewell tour" to last throughout 2025, that is, to fight from January to December.

His last WrestleMania will be in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, but Cena will continue fighting after that and said he will tentatively do between 30 and 40 matches in 2025.
