The New York Giants defense runs through the unique talent of Dexter Lawrence II.

It's not often the engine of a defense comes from the nose tackle position, but most teams don't have the type of player the Giants have.

Fortunately, they added some help alongside him with the addition of Brian Burns. That, coupled with the development of Kayvon Thibodeaux, should allow Lawrence to thrive even more.

As NFL executives, coaches and scouts rank the top players at each position for ESPN, Lawrence came in at No. 3 among all defensive tackles.

"He's just an awesome football player," an AFC scout told ESPN. "A unique combo of power, balance and lower-body flexibility, and you combine that with his football acumen and you have a premier player."

Lawrence has consistently been one of the top defensive tackles in the NFL over the last few seasons. His prowess as a pass rusher from the nose tackle spot makes him a unique player to build around.

The defense being brought in by new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen relies heavily on the abilities of the front four to generate pressure.

As Lawrence enters the prime of his career at age 26, fans should expect him to remain in the elite tier of defensive tackles.
