The Baltimore Ravens didn't make any major additions at wide receiver in the offseason, yet there is still some intrigue as the team prepares for training camp.
The Ravens are a bit thin at receiver and could use someone to step up in 2024 to help take their offense to the next level.
With three established receivers on the roster and a bunch of question marks after that, the training camp competition at wide receiver will be one to watch.
With training camp approaching for the Ravens, here's a projection of how the Ravens final depth chart at wide receiver might shape up.
1. Zay Flowers
Flowers had a tremendous rookie season, leading the team in catches (102) and receiving yards (858). Flowers had some drops during offseason workouts, according to Baltimore Banner's Jonas Shaffer, but he is still in line to take a step forward in 2024. He's training hard enough, at least.
2. Rashod Bateman
The recently extended Bateman is facing a big year. Finally healthy and needing to live up to his draft position, a step forward from Bateman would be a huge development for Baltimore. Several Ravens have already praised Bateman's route-running during offseason workouts.
3. Nelson Agholor
The Ravens re-signed Agholor this past offseason after the veteran had 35 catches for 381 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2023. Now entering his 10th season in the NFL, Agholor is what he is — an inconsistent, but occasionally-dynamic pass-catcher who can be effective in the red zone. Perhaps Agholor's connection with Jackson will get stronger in his second season in Baltimore.
4. Devontez Walker
The Ravens used a fourth-round pick on Walker in this year's draft. He's a big, tall, downfield threat who can win jump balls, something the Ravens don't really have on their roster. Walker's hands can be shaky, and as a fourth-round rookie, it's unlikely he makes a massive impact on the offense. But if he can bring a few big plays down the field, the Ravens will be better for it.
5. Malik Cunningham
The QB-turned-WR turned some heads at offseason workouts, with onlookers consistently reporting that he made good plays each day and looked like a natural receiver. He seems likely to make the final roster, as he could also provide some emergency QB depth.
6. Deonte Harty
For the last 53-man roster spot, it's a tough call between Harty and Tylan Wallace. We'll give the nod to Harty, who has more experience and success as both a wide receiver and a return man. Harty is only two seasons removed from a 570-yard season with the Saints in 2021. And the Baltimore native was effective as a punt returner last season, returning 26 punts for 323 yards and 1 touchdown, including a 96-yard return.
One other name to watch: Dayton Wade.
The undrafted receiver got a shoutout from Patrick Ricard during OTAs, with Ricard praising Wade's route-running, hands, and work ethic. Shaffer reports that Wade didn't stand out much during minicamp, but if Wade has a strong training camp, he could sneak on to the roster.
