Shohei Ohtani on Sunday stole two bases in one inning to become baseball's first 20-20 player of the 2024 season. By stealing second and third he added his 19th and 20th steals to go along with his National League-leading 28 home runs.

It may take awhile for someone to catch him. The only player who's particularly close is Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz who is up to 43 (!) stolen bases and 15 home runs. Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson is at 27 homers and 14 stolen bases, while Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez is sitting at 16 stolen bags and 23 homers.

2024 marks the third time Ohtani has made the 20-20 club. He's the 16th Dodgers player to ever reach that milestone as well. Freddie Freeman did it last season with 29 home runs and 23 stolen bases. Trea Turner did it in 2022 with 21 home runs and 27 steals.

Matt Kemp did it twice in 2009 and 2011, and in 2011 he led the National League with 39 homers. Ohtani has a real chance to be the second Dodger to lead the NL in home runs while posting at least 20 steals. Kemp in 2011 fell one homer shy of achieving the rare 40-40 season. Ohtani could certainly scare that mark and become the first Dodgers player to ever make the 40-40 club.
