Just three weeks ago, the Boston Red Sox optioned starting pitcher Cooper Criswell back to Triple-A Worcester to make room on their roster for veteran reliever Chris Martin.
On Monday, Criswell was named the International League Player of the Week after throwing six innings of scoreless, one-hit baseball against the Syracuse Mets.
The 27-year-old has been solid in Boston, posting a 4.15 ERA and a 1.212 WHIP in 12 appearances (11 starts). He's been dominant in Worcester in his five starts, recording a 1.40 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP.
With Josh Winckowski not having his best stuff during his last start, it wouldn't be surprising if Criswell is recalled to join the rotation again.
