The 2024 Formula One season is really starting to ramp up as we approach the halfway stage of the campaign, as the 12th race on the calendar takes place from the iconic Silverstone Circuit in England, UK.

The British Grand Prix is one of the longest-serving events in all of motorsport, let alone just F1, and as such a packed house is expected at Silverstone for the 79th edition of this race. There's also three UK representatives — Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell — all looking for glory on home soil today.

Russell is arguably best-placed to do this after winning a crazy meeting in Austria last weekend. World champion Max Verstappen looked set for an eighth victory of the season at Red Bull's home circuit, but a collision with Norris towards the back end of the race saw both drivers ruled out of the running, allowing Russell's Mercedes to storm home for his first win of 2024.

Verstappen still holds a healthy lead in his bid for a fourth consecutive World Drivers' Championship, and having both won the last two British Grands Prix and seen a moment of madness cost him maximum points in Austria, the Dutchman will be keen on making amends at Silverstone this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton — who has won a record-breaking eight times at this circuit — can't be counted out either, and as the drivers round the penultimate bends past the pit straight into the final home run, they'll be hoping so on the aptly-named 'Hamilton Straight'.

For all the scheduling, TV and streaming details for the British Grand Prix, The Sporting News has your go-to guide for today's race.
