England and the Netherlands have faced each other 22 times since their first meeting 1935. That has included two meetings in the UEFA European Championships and once in the FIFA World Cup.
The overall record stands at six wins for England, compared to seven for the Netherlands, with nine draws.
Following eight friendly meetings, in which England won four times, the first competitive clash came at Euro '88. Dutch icon Marco van Basten netted a superb hat-trick to secure 3-1 win in Dusseldorf.

England were knocked out in the group stages as La Oranje went on to win the final against the Soviet Union and Van Basten netted one of the finest goals the competition has ever seen.

They met again in the group stages of the 1990 World Cup in Italy, and could not be split in a 0-0 draw, as England lost out to eventual champions West Germany in the semifinals.
The Dutch then ended England's chance of qualifying for the 1994 World Cup before the Three Lions secured some revenge as hosts of Euro '96.
Two goals each from Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham propelled England out of the group stages before again losing out on penalties to Germany in a semifinal.
