Rahul Dravid signed off as the head coach of the Indian cricket team in style as in his last assignment as the coach, India lifted the 2024 T20 World Cup title in Barbados beating South Africa in the final.

Dravid, who took charge of the team in 2021, helped India reach the final of the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle and then the 2023 ODI World Cup final. Unfortunately for India, they lost on both occasions to Australia.

With the legendary Indian batter's stint coming to an end now, BCCI are close to appointing IPL 2024 winning KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir as the new national head coach.

Rahul Dravid to replace Gautam Gambhir at KKR?

According to a report published by News18 Bangla, reigning IPL champions KKR have reportedly approached Rahul Dravid with an offer to fill in the position of mentor which has been left vacant by Gautam Gambhir now that he is set to take charge of the Indian team.

The report further claims that KKR are among several other IPL teams who have approached the 51-year-old. The Kolkata-based franchise is believed to have offered him a much higher salary than that he was drawing as the Indian head coach.

It remains to be seen if Dravid accepts a role in the IPL and makes a comeback to franchise cricket ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
