In 1922, Cartier introduced the original Tank Chinoise, drawing inspiration from its resemblance to Asian architectural elements. Specifically, the horizontal brancards mirrored the silhouette of entry gates found in many Asian temples.
As part of the Cartier Privé collection, dedicated to reissuing classic designs, 2022 saw the launch of limited edition Privé Tank Chinoise models. These paid homage to the original blueprint while offering a fresh and intriguing update for contemporary collectors. Available in yellow gold, pink gold, and platinum – each of the 2022 Privé watches boasts a slightly elongated rectangular case, departing from the traditional square design. Furthermore, the new model introduces blued sword hands, compared to the 1922 version's pomme (Breguet) hands.
This particular piece, numbered 9 out of 150, is encased in 18k pink gold and features a classic silvered dial adorned with Roman numerals. It is powered by the manual winding caliber 430 MC movement. Offered in overall excellent condition, it comes complete with its full suite of accessories.
