Flamingo Fest 2021 - Events

This spring, be on the lookout for a flamboyance of Rocky Mountain Flamingos at Banff Sunshine Village. That’s right, our snowbirds are back, and this spring, they’ve flocked together to bring to life the Banff Sunshine Inaugural Flamingo Fest!

Flamingo Fest is a social media-fueled virtual event designed to celebrate the best of spring skiing and riding in the Canadian Rockies. These events will start Monday April 26th, 2021, and will finish Sunday May 23rd, 2021.

In Celebration of Flamingo Fest, we are offering 4 events! Each event lasting 7 days and can all be participated by just visiting Banff Sunshine and sharing on Instagram or Facebook 

EVENT #1 Flamingo Safari

April 26th, 2021 - May 2nd, 2021

Our Rocky Mountain Flamingos have flocked to the slopes and hidden all over the mountain. There are 20 flamingos, each one with a fun fact about their unique flamingo sub-species.

Like did you know that the Rocky Mountain Flamingos prefer to ride in the blue cabins because they remind them of the beautiful South American beaches that their ancestors migrated from? (Although they are pretty vocal in expressing their wish for Banff Sunshine to add hot pink gondolas cabins.)

EVENT #2 Spring Video Contest

May 3rd, 2021 - May 9th, 2021

If you love spring skiing and riding, this is the perfect contest for you! We want you to create a minute-long video for why you love spring skiing and snowboarding. We would love to see your favorite spring tricks, your favorite parts of the mountain to enjoy in the springtime, and why you think spring shines on the slopes of Banff Sunshine Village. When you are out on the mountain don't forget to look out for our Rocky Mountain Flamingos that have returned to our slopes once again and make sure to include them in your video entry.

EVENT #3 Spring Dress UpDays

May 10th, 2021 - May 16th, 2021

Each Slush Cup weekend, one of our favorite parts of the festivities is seeing everyone dress up in their outrageously bright and fun costumes and clothing. This year since we will be celebrating Flamonigo Fest in lieu of Slush Cup we wanted to make the dress up fun a week-long affair. Feel free to dress up every day you come to the slopes, but between May 10th - May 16th, 2021 we will have a costume contest We can not wait to see what wild and fun outfits all of you sunshiners come up with!

EVENT #4 Mr. & Mrs. Slush Cup

May 17th, 2021 - May 23rd, 2021

This year, we have a new socially distanced way to crown Mr. and Mrs. Slush Cup. This is a video contest in place of our Pond Skim Tradition. We want you to create a minute-long video featuring some natural spring conditions from around the resort. Can't find the perfect natural spring, pond skim like conditions get creative in the park. We would love to see you get big air or your favorite trick on our rail features. 

Don’t forget you will be judged on more than just your tricks, get creative with your outfits, and make sure to have fun!
