No need to go far to donate blood

Simi Valley residents will have several opportunities to make a lifesaving donation.

Nonprofit Vitalant is urging all eligible volunteer donors to help prevent a summer shortage by giving blood this July.

Donors of all blood types are urgently needed, especially Type O-negative blood which can be used for transfusions when a patient’s blood type is unknown.

O-negative can help any patient in an emergency and O-positive can help any patient with a positive blood type.

As a special thanks for donating July 8 to 27, donors will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a vehicle valued up to $30,000.

To make an appointment to give blood, go to vitalant.org, download and use the Vitalant app or call (877) 25-VITAL (877-258-4825).
