The Conejo Oaks, a collegiate wood-bat baseball team founded in 2006, have returned to the diamond.
The Oaks, who play their home games at Sparky Anderson Field at Cal Lutheran’s Ullman Stadium, opened the summer season with a 9-5 record.
Players with local ties include Scott Radinsky (Westlake High graduate/ Saint Peter’s University), Jack Johnson ( Westlake/ Baylor), Nick Leehey (Newbury Park/UC Davis), Daniel Orozco (Moorpark/Moorpark College), Tanner Beltowski (Buena/Westmont), Nathan Hernandez (Pacifica/Oxnard College), Luke Wechsler (Cal Lutheran), Brian Uribe (Camarillo/Southern Nevada), Justin Rubin (Pepperdine), Charlie Decker (Thousand Oaks resident/Chaminade/ Puget Sound), Austin Carrillo (formerly Cal Lutheran/now at Biola), Kai Caranto (Cal Lutheran), Lucas Danielewicz (Cal Lutheran), Tommy Kendlinger (Buena/ Allan Hancock), Luis Luhrs (Rio Mesa/ Oxnard College) and Damon Villa II (Moorpark). David Soliz is the manager.
Allan Camarillo, a 5- foot- 10, 170-pound shortstop, does not hail from Camarillo, unfortunately.
The Oaks are in the middle of a June 27-30 four-game home stand. The squad does not play on the Fourth of July, but there are two 4 p.m. home games between the holiday, on July 3 and July 5.
