STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- From stopping traffic on busy thoroughfares to getting hit by unsuspecting motorists, wild turkeys -- a long-time nuisance on Staten Island -- seem to be multiplying in droves.

In fact, many borough residents say there seems to be an uptick in the Island’s wild turkey population amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic when state and city officials have placed focus elsewhere.
