Trades between the two New York ball clubs aren’t all that common, but it’s always fun to imagine deals between the Mets and Yankees.
That’s what Mike Francesa did on his podcast on Monday, pitching a suggestion to Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns.

“To me, a perfect, perfect addition for the Yankees is (Jeff) McNeil.” Francesa said on the Mike Francesa Podcast. “Number one, he is miserable with the Mets. The Mets can’t stand the look of him anymore, and he can’t stand the Mets anymore. He hasn’t been happy there in a long time. Let’s be honest, he doesn’t fit in, let’s be honest. They like (Jose) Iglesias more than they like him, we know that.”
Francesa proposed the Yankees send the Mets a minor league pitcher in exchange for McNeil.
McNeil, 32, has been experiencing a long slump this season and is hitting .214 with a .578 OPS, five homers and 20 RBI. Meanwhile, Iglesias has been impressive over the last month since he’s been called up.
McNeil went 1-for-7 in this past weekend’s four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
