It was hot, hot, hot on Saturday morning, but so were the Mid-Island bats. While real-feel temperatures approached 100 degrees, which scorched the turf in Travis, the scalding-hot bats of the 10-year-old All-Star team erupted for a 7-2 triumph over visiting Great Kills.
The Mid-Island loop, in the process, secured the Little League District 24 All-Star 10s crown and punched its ticket to the Section 3 South tournament, which begins next Saturday. Mid-Island posted a 3-1 record in pool play before upending South Shore in the semifinals to gain the title round.
