Is being a “regular” person all it’s cracked up to be?

Actor Kevin Bacon decided to try out a day as a non-celebrity, and recounted his experience in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, to see if the “normal” grass is indeed greener.

“I’m not complaining, but I have a face that’s pretty recognizable,” Bacon, 65, said in the interview. “Putting my hat and glasses on is only going to work to a certain extent.”

The actor went to great lengths to go incognito, employing the help of a special effects artist, who fitted the “Footloose” star with fake teeth, a different nose, and eyewear, which he sported on a day of shopping in a section of Los Angeles usually packed with tourists.

The “X-Men First Class” star was surprised at his reaction to the anonymity craved by so many A-listers in Hollywood, who are constantly hounded by photographers, as he was so unrecognizable that he had to suffer the indignity of waiting his turn, unable to cut the line to get a coffee.

“I had to wait in line to, I don’t know, buy a f–king coffee or whatever,” he recalled. “People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, ‘I love you.’ I was like, This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.”
