STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Criminal charges against a high school math teacher accused of a domestic assault involving a baseball bat have been dismissed, sources said.
James Aurelia, 34, was arrested around 8:25 p.m. on April 29 on allegations he struck the 35-year-old complainant in the vicinity of Vanderbilt Avenue and Nunley Court in Stapleton.
The defendant was arraigned in Criminal Court in May on a top charge of second-degree assault. The charges were since dismissed and the case sealed from the public.
Aurelia is a mathematics teacher at Staten Island Technical High School.
