A former three-star recruit out of Bend High School in Bend, Oregon, where he was the 37th tight end prospect and the 5th recruit from Oregon during the 2019 cycle. Musgrave played lacrosse, ran track, and was a part of the ski team in high school. His uncle is former NFL quarterback and long-time coach Bill Musgrave.

Notables

Musgrave only started 13 games in his collegiate career. He was off to a hot start in 2022, but his season was ended by a knee injury suffered in week two; he had 11 catches for 169 yards with a touchdown. He finished his college career with 47 catches for 633 yards with two touchdowns.

Summary

Luke Musgrave is an excellent athlete who could be a true mismatch nightmare for linebackers at the NFL level. Musgrave is not a traditional “Y” TE; he can align inline but will not consistently own the POA -- not a plus blocker.

Musgrave is skilled enough with his release to align as a big slot or an H-Back. He could significantly help a play-action passing attack as a vertical threat. His overall receiving profile should - and will - entice an NFL team due to his movement skills, coordination, and size.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Musgrave received full clearance from the medical staff at the Combine. Although the production is limited, the traits are evident on tape. He’s an effective threat on all three levels of the field, and he should be an asset for whoever drafts him - probably somewhere on day two.
