New York Giants Draft Prospect Profile: RB Kenny McIntosh

Let's take a look at another running back prospect.

Kenny McIntosh, RB

Height: 6’0
Weight: 210 lbs.
Class: Senior
School: Georgia

Kenny McIntosh was the eleventh-ranked running back in the country out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from the 2019 recruiting class. McIntosh committed to the Georgia Bulldogs over Miami, Auburn, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Baylor.

Notables

McIntosh spent most of his first three seasons in Athens as a depth running back and special teams player in backfields filled with NFL talent. In his first three collegiate seasons, McIntosh played 389 offensive snaps before seeing 456 snaps in 2022.

Strengths

  • When he hits a hole, he can zoom
  • Not a very powerful runner, but can lower his shoulder to make sure he falls forward
  • One of the best pass-catching backs in the draft
  • Targeted 90 times in college without a drop
  • Can pick up yards in a hurry when running out wide
  • Versatile enough to be able to play occasionally as a wide receiver or slot
  • Ability to contribute in multiple phases of special teams

Weaknesses

  • Dances around in the backfield too much
  • Impatient as a runner and goes past his blockers
  • Not very creative as a ball-carrier
  • Not as good of a pass-protector as you would hope for in a passing-down back
  • Not sure if he has the skill set to be an every-down back

Summary

In a committee, McIntosh has a role as a passing down specialist and change of pace back that can create long gains out of nowhere. If the Giants are looking for someone to take a little bit of the pressure off of Saquon Barkley (should he be in East Rutherford in 2023), then McIntosh could be a fit that would also be able to replace Matt Breida’s skillset.
