Whalsay Kirk Development Company is looking for a Development Project Lead.

WKDC is seeking to engage someone who is self-motivated, with good communication skills to coordinate our fundraising activity and establish strong community links both here in Whalsay and elsewhere.

The main goals of the project are to

  • investigate sources of funding for the eventual refurbishment of the building,
  • coordinate fundraising activities and promote use of the building in the meantime, and
  • establish links with partner organisations and members of the local community, including active promotion, e.g., on social media, and increasing memberships of WKDC.

The Project Lead will need to be local to or able to travel to Whalsay regularly to achieve the deliverables but will be remote based with access to a computer and will be self-employed.

The project timescale is for 12 months, and the budget allocated is £15,000; we anticipate it to entail approximately 15-18 hours’ work a week on average. As an organisation we are committed to Fair Work First criteria.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative project which has huge potential.
