Community / Summer youth camp to be held for first time since 2019
THE SHETLAND Christian Youth Camp (SCYC) is due to open its doors again this July and hold its first summer residential camp since before the Covid pandemic.
SCYC has been providing holidays for Shetland children for more than 25 years, but the last summer residential was held back in 2019.
In the meantime, SCYC had offered online camps and fun days in Sumburgh and Lerwick.
In the intervening period the building in Sumburgh has undergone a series of refurbishments and upgrades.
Organisers said there will also be some new activities, but the “old favourites” such as the go kart, water fight and sporting activities will available again this year.
SCYC will run for the first three weeks of July, for children ranging between primary four and secondary school ages.
The group said there is no charge for children to attend and transport to and from Sumburgh will be provided from across Shetland, with booking available online.
