Sport / Team Shetland in action at the island games
FOLLOWING Saturday’s opening ceremony in St Peter Port, the 2023 NatWest International Islands Games in Guernsey are now well and truly under way.
Team Shetland has a busy day ahead with the table tennis team already up against Jersey.
This will be followed by group games against the Faroe Islands and Aland later in the day.
The badminton team event will kick off with a game against the Western Isles at 12.30, followed by a second game against the Faroe Islands.
Meanwhile, Darren Forrest and James Morris are out on the water in the first day of the ILCA7 sailing event.
Shetland’s football team will play the first of three group games against Ynys Mon at 18.30
And it will get serious for Shetland’s triathletes when the men’s and women’s individual and team events scheduled to get under way around midday.

Meanwhile, the athletics events are due to start at the Osmond Priaulx Memorial playing field after lunch with the men’s and women’s heats in the 100m competition.
Swimming, archery and cycling will get under way on Monday, while Shetland’s golfers have to wait until Tuesday to enter the competition.
